South Africa will return to the Hong Kong Sixes with a seven-member squad led by Jorich van Schalkwyk, when the tournament runs from 30 October to 1 November at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong.
The squad includes Steve Stolk, Abdullah Bayoumy, Ayabulela Gqamane, Alindile Mhletywa, Blake Simpson and Heath Richards.
Returning Experience
Three players return from the 2025 edition: van Schalkwyk, Simpson and Bayoumy. Their experience from last year’s tournament gives the side a foundation for this campaign.
Van Schalkwyk led South Africa’s run-scoring charts in 2025 with 122 runs. Bayoumy was the team’s leading wicket-taker, claiming four wickets. Simpson contributed with both bat and ball, adding further versatility to the returning group.
Group Stage Challenge
South Africa have been drawn in Group D alongside Afghanistan and Oman. The group-stage matches will serve as an important first test as the team looks to secure progression to the knockout stages.
South Africa A coach Wandile Gwavu will oversee the side. The competition offers little room for error, and it rewards teams that capitalize on every opportunity.
